Yikes! It's only a week until Christmas! Are you ready? I almost am. I actually mailed Christmas cards yesterday, which was a weight off my mind. And, I have to admit, I cut my list down this year. I've had people on there for years to whom I mail cards — and never get one in return. I've decided I just don't have time for that anymore. This year, I kept a couple of those people on the list, but mostly I mailed cards to people who mailed them to me. And people who I know will mail them (or would) when they have time.
As far as gifts, I'm almost done there. Hubby and I may not be shopping for each other, though we won't know that until tomorrow. See, we have this big wall in our great room where we've been wanting built-ins. So we have a contractor coming to give us an estimate. That may be our present to each other — which, I have to say, is fine with me. I'd rather get something I want than turn the man loose with a few ideas and hope for the best. ๐
If the estimate is too large, then we may be doing some last minute shopping for each other. We tend to buy what we want when we want it, or plan for bigger purchases, so it gets difficult to find things the other person doesn't already have. I really, really hope the built-ins are within the budget. I know we won't have them before Christmas, but knowing they're coming would be awesome.
What do you want for Christmas? Do you like things for the house? Or do you prefer personal items like jewelry and perfume, etc?
Hi Lynn! How have you been?
I am kind of shocked it’s only a week until Christmas. I’m being crafty this year to save money, and there’s still so much I need to do. I hear ya about sending unreciprocated cards.
I hope you’re having a wonderful December,
Sabrina
Hey, Sabrina! Great to hear from you! How’s it going in paradise? I sure do miss it! All is well here, though, and I’m pretty happy that I get to write for Harlequin! ๐ Say hi to everyone.
Hey there
Hubby got me a Kindle. That’s a big yee-ha! Babgy girl#1 got me a skin for it and they both came in today. I’m being a bad girl and playing with it tonight. All shopping for my 3 little princesses is done. Cards are not done. Every year we do a collage card but this year I got so wrapped up in creating a digital scrapbook from scratch for parents, in-laws & hubby on photoshop that the card just slid by. Hoping to get it done and emailed. Saving paper & postage this year. First time ever.
Take care.
Gibb
Oh, Gibb, how fabulous! I love my Kindle. I don’t blame you for playing with it a few days early.
Good luck with the digital scrapbook! ๐
I’m absolutely NOT ready. Tree in the front room, no lights, no decorations, maybe Sunday. Shipped a huge box to my daughter in DC. This is the first year she won’t be at home so maybe that’s why I’m so not into it. However, spending both days with my mom and son and then Christmas Eve with our extended family from Hawaii and their girls and baby, which I’m really looking forward to seeing them.
I’ll get there, just will take a little longer.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday sweetheart. Keep writing those wonderful books, I so love!
Oh, by the way, if you haven’t watched Debbke Macomber’s Mr. Miracle on the Hallmark channel, you should….a very sweet Christmas story.
Hi, Marilyn! Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so happy you enjoy my stories. ๐ I hope you got your decorations done! It sounds like you are going to have a marvelous Christmas with family. ๐ Will try and catch that Debbie Macomber movie!
๐ DH took my not so subtle hint some 5 months ago about what I would really, really, really like for Christmas and I am now the thrilled person who is booked onto Kate Walkers weekend writing course in February 2010! Cant wait!!! Yay. Merry Christmas – Caroline x
Caroline, that’s wonderful!!!!! Oh so lucky!!! You will love it, I am sure. I just love Kate! She has been so fabulous to me — I can’t praise her highly enough. ๐
Jo: I’m still waiting for my competition response. I’m hoping that’s a good thing (i.e. not just a standard rejection). Feedback is great!
Lynn: I’m totally with you on whittling the list down. And my husband and I quit buying gifts for each other years ago, although I occasionally sneak in something small.
Good luck getting it all done!
Hi, Gwen! Yeah, hubby and I go through years where we buy nothing, because we buy what we want when we want — and then sometimes we get each other little stuff. Depending on that estimate, which should be done early this week, we’ll know what we’re doing this year.
Hi Lynn:
I finally got my cards sent off. I used to send a 100, now I am down to about 45. Some I don’t worry about return cards as they are old relatives. Others, I just want to keep in touch. I don’t send locally till the following year if I receive them. I make picture cards and do a letter (mac made it SO EASY) so it’s expensive but cool.
I am TX now. Will be back before Christmas.
This year our focus is, as always on DD, but one year, probably her senior year, we’re punting “presents” and just going on a trip somewhere — doing stockings only.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Christine, many hugs and good wishes on your TX trip. And I think the idea of a trip is great! Two years ago, hubby and I took his parents and mine on a cruise at Christmas. It was fabulous! What a great memory. Wish we could do it again sometime soon. It was the best time.
Jo, how fabulous! Feedback is great! That means they see something, so yay you! And 5 kids?! Wow! It’s a wonder you get any writing done at all. ๐
