What did I realize? I'm ineligible for the Golden Heart! Being a finalist last year was amazing, but now I'll never have a chance to win. Ah well. π I'll cheer my friends instead!
Lynn,
You may not be eligible to enter the Golden Heart, but you have the better prize: a contract! A new necklace would be nice, but I don’t think it could possibly compare with seeing your name on the cover of your “firstborn.”
And console yourself with this. Once your book is out, you can enter the RITA.
See, that’s good for people like me, though. A lot of the finalists from last year have sold and are ineligible now, so a huge chunk of my competition has vanished… π
Hi, Keli! LOL, guess the RITA is a whole new kettle of fish. π
SP, a LOT of finalists have sold. And about 3 or 4 in the paranormal category, so you go girl and get that entry ready!
Lynn,
I wanted to stop by and wish you thousands of congratulations. How exciting to see your dreams realized. Looking forward to reading your story.
The Rita. Gold, shiny, sitting on your shelf, smiling down at you, reminding you what you’ve accomplished.
Yeah. Sounds like an excellent trade-off, Lynn!!! π
Lynn,
I sit across from Mike at work and have been visiting your website periodically since he got here. Personal note to you – AWESOME! I feel a kind of excitement just knowing you through your husband. Congratulations twice!!!
Hi, Kathy and Patricia and Anon. Thanks for stopping by. RITA would be nice, Kathy, but I won’t hold my breath. π
Patricia, thanks for the congrats! I hope you will enjoy my story. π
And thanks for the congrats, Anon. π It is an exciting time for us at Chez Harris. But you still have to put up with Mike; it’s an urban myth that you sell a book and get wealthy. Oh, if only…. π
I think you have lots and lots of good things in your future. As Keli said, the necklace would be nice, but a shiny Rita would be better. Can’t wait for all the events to come — seeing your cover, seeing you holding your book, reading your book. This is just the beginning!
Marilyn
Thank you, Marilyn!! I can’t wait for you to do NaNo. I want to drag you over to this side of the playground. *g*
