I found this story inspiring!! An idea, thirty years, umpteen rejections, and finally published to acclaim.
And not only is it my debut novel, but it is my first piece of commercial fiction ever, and after an entire adult life of trying.
Would you give up if it took you 30 years? We are always told not to keep rewriting the same book. I happen to agree with that advice. But obviously it worked for this man. Fascinating story. What do you think?
Wow! There might be hope for my book yet. 😉
Loved your blog on Presents but I didn’t see it until today. You rock, Lynn!!
30 Years. I’m only 29 now. I can’t imagine working on one book for my entire lifetime. Gives me a headache just thinking about it.
Then I wonder – what about his second book? He’s done so well, they’ll certainly want another. I bet he’ll have less time to work on this one…
Thanks, Kathy! 🙂 I still say we have to move on, though. This guy was crazy. *g*
SP, no kidding on that second book! I thought about that too…..
What an inspiring story. I rejoice that this author finally met with success, and rather remarkable success at that. Hope and dreams are wonderful things. They keep us going when everything seems to tell us we should stop. Glad he didn’t.
