I think I'm going to make the switch to WordPress, but don't worry, I'll be sure to point this blog to the new one. It's been surprisingly easy to play with creating a new blog, and importing this one into it. If all goes well, I hope to introduce the new site next week. And, big news, but it will take the place of my current website. As much as I love my website, it doesn't reflect what's going on in my writing accurately anymore. The dark colors and hot military guy are crowding out the tycoons and exotic locations. 🙂
So, playing around, but I think the switch will happen.
In other news, had a fabulous interview in the Decatur Daily today. Except I can't give you a link because they only allow subscribers to read the articles. I think that's a mistake, one that the New York Times finally admitted when they returned their site to an all free one, but this is a local paper and they have their own ideas.
What's going on in your neck of the woods? I'm trying to create a new site, keeping up with the press lately, and working on my novel. It's been a busy August…..
I can’t wait to see it! I need to do stuff to my website but I need the get the software first.
Good luck!
We need to talk about this WordPress business. There’s wordpress.com and workpress.org and I’m not sure which one is which. With one you have to download something; with the other you don’t.
I’ll be following your switch carefully and since I’m getting pressure from several sides to switch our blog too, I need all the info I can get.
So far, so easy. I believe WordPress.com is where I went. You sign up for the free blog and then create it (without downloading a thing).
My plan, however, is to move the whole thing over to my domain (which eliminates all extensions like .wordpress or .blogspot). Hopefully, that will progress seamlessly. This is why I’m building it now. I’ve kept it private so I can play, but when I’m ready, I’ll try and move it to the domain (thereby replacing the current website).
So far, it really is easy as pie. I’ve already imported Blogger into it. That was as simple as the push of a button!
Lynn,
I’m quite happy with WordPress, where I have Romance Writers on the Journey. I love the stats they provide as well as the multiple page templates.
I’ll look forward to the new look, once the glow from your time in the limelight dims a bit and you can think of mundane things like switching blog providers. *g*
It was your blog that made me think of switching, Keli! I like the tabbed pages. The whole thing can substitute for a website! Very nice.
