Yes, yes, YES! I only watched the last five minutes of the finale, but had seen a headline on Yahoo that said the vote wasn’t close — 56% to 44%. Because I’d been able to vote for DC to easily on Tuesday night, I honestly expected Seacrest to call out Archie’s name. When he said “David Cook” I threw my hands up in the air and yelled “Yesssssssss!”
I read where the producers were secretly hoping he’d win because he would be easier to manage. They felt Archie came into the competition with an agenda (AKA stage father) and would be a difficult act to manage. Well, they got their wish.
DC totally deserves the win, and that’s coming from a woman who hated him at the beginning. He won me over each week. I wish him the greatest success.

It was so exciting! I had no plans to watch, because I just knew Archie was gonna win. But, the inlaws are here and we all went up to the media room to watch TV. Hubby turned it on and Idol was onscreen. So, I had to endure 45 minutes, knowing my guy was not going to win. We were DVR-ing just in case, but I just knew I’d have to erase it instead of watch it.
When Seacrest said 12 million votes, I thought holy cow, those teeny boppers love DA. And then he said David Cook and I do believe I screamed. 🙂 My mil cried and she doesn’t even watch Idol much. My hubby teased me that at least a million of those votes were mine. 😉
Like you, I thought I was getting through too easily at times. I did speed dial for about an hour and a half off and on throughout the night. Toward 11, it was way too easy. But I was determined to buy DC’s album no matter what when it came out, so I figured I’d done my part.
Oh man, I just love this guy. He seems like the genuine article, you know? I actually loved him from the beginning, though he didn’t become my favorite until Hello. After that, I was hooked. AI and iTunes have gotten a lot of money out of me this season. 😉
I ended up watching most of the last hour. I think I was more excited about the duets with Brian Adams, George Michael and ZZ Top. When they announced he won, I did squeal. I SO didn’t think he’d get it.
BTW – did you catch his version of the Guitar Hero commercial. YUMMY!

The duet with ZZ Top was fabulous! I’m miffed I can’t get it on iTunes. And oh yeah, the Guitar Hero commercial! I’m amazed and not amazed at how DC transformed into such a hottie. I told the hubby it was possible at that first audition. I don’t think he believed me. 🙂 I said with a new hairstyle and some decent clothes, he’d be seriously cute. Hubs really thought I’d lost it, I’m sure.
